Reba's Gold to Defend in Seabiscuit BC 'Cap

(from Bay Meadows report)
A small but competitive field of five lines up for Monday's $100,000 Seabiscuit Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III) at Bay Meadows, headed by morning line favorite Snorter and defending champion Reba's Gold.

The Seabiscuit Breeders' Cup is for 3-year-olds and up and will be run at 1 1/16 miles on the main track.

Snorter, the 8-5 morning line selection, is a 4-year-old colt trained by Hall of Famer Bobby Frankel. Based at Hollywood Park, Snorter captured the Berkeley Handicap (gr. III) at Golden Gate Fields in his last visit to Northern California.

Snorter had his three-race winning streak snapped in his most recent outing when he didn't handle a sloppy track at Lone Star Park and finished fourth in the Texas Mile (gr. III) on April 24.

The 9-5 second choice on the morning line is Yougottawanna, who finished second to Snorter in the Berkeley. Yougottawanna has finished in the money in 16 of his 24 career starts and made $430,804.

Reba's Gold, 7-2 on the line, won last year's running of the Seabiscuit by eight lengths. Trained by Dan Hendricks, Reba's Gold is a 7-year-old horse who will be making his first start of 2004 in the Seabiscuit.
