Hollywood Story Hopes for Happy Oaks Ending

(from Hollywood Park notes)
Hollywood Story, who most recently finished fifth in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), heads a field of six 3-year-old fillies entered to race 1 1/16 miles in the $175,000 Hollywood Breeders' Cup Oaks (gr. II) in Inglewood Saturday.

A victory in the Oaks would make Hollywood Story only the second filly ever to complete a stakes double beginning with the 2003 Hollywood Starlet. Sharp Cat won the 1996 Starlet before taking the following year's Oaks.

Hollywood Story breaks from post 4 with Mike Smith aboard.

Trained by John Shirreffs for George Krikorian, Hollywood Story broke her maiden when capturing last year's Starlet. Her 1-3-1 mark has generated earnings of $441,660.

Elusive Diva, winner of the Railbird Stakes (gr. III) at seven furlongs on May 24, is anxious to demonstrate she can be as effective stretching out, trainer Mark Glatt said.

"She still has to prove she can go two turns against a better caliber of horses," said Glatt. "But adding blinkers last time was a big help."

Glatt said the Kentucky-bred daughter of Elusive Quality has trained well since the Railbird. "She blew out a half mile in 47 (seconds) on Sunday."

Fantasy Stakes (gr. II) winner House of Fortune finished eighth in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) in her last start for trainer Ron McAnally.

Class Above, winner of the Bourbonette at Turfway Park for trainer Bob Baffert, also looks to atone for her last-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks.
