Tale of the Cat Filly Tops Inglis Mixed Auction in Australia

Tale of Perfection, a 4-year-old filly by Tale of the Cat out of the stakes winning Vain mare Bank Burst, brought the top price of $52,000 (approximately $36,332 in U.S. funds) at the William Inglis & Son winter mixed sale in Sydney, Australia, on Friday. Inglis, as agent, bought her on the behalf of an unidentified client. She will be sent to the breeding shed later this year in Victoria.

Tale of Perfection was winless in five career races, but finished second once and third once. The New Zealand-bred filly raced for a partnership that included C.J.W. Stear, P.S. Buckley, and M.D. O'Brien and was sold at the auction for their account.

In all 178 horses were sold, and they grossed $960,000 ($670,752). The average price was $5,393 ($3,768).

"This particular sale never ceases to amaze me as every year there is a very strong buying bench across all sections of the catalogue, with particular interest in the tried racehorses," said Inglis bloodstock director Jonathan D'Arcy.
