The Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy will hold "Call to the Post," a fund-raising event scheduled for Sept. 17 at the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington.
Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day will be the guest speaker at the event, which benefits the Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy, a division of the Race Track Chaplaincy of America. The RTCA is a non-profit evangelical Christian outreach ministry dedicated to serving the spiritual, physical, social, and education needs of all people in the Central Kentucky horse farm community.
The Bluegrass chapter recently hired Vincent Rivera of Chicago as its first full-time chaplain.
"Call to the Post' will begin at 7 p.m. EDT and feature silent and live auctions and music by the University of Kentucky AccoUstiKats. John Henderson will serve as master of ceremonies, and Tom Biederman and Terrence Collier will be the auctioneers.
Among the live auction items are a Dodge Dakota 4x4 donated by Frank Shoop of Georgetown, Ky.; and a John Deere Gator and John Deere tractor donated by Bevins Motors of Georgetown. Other scheduled live auction items include lower-arena seats at Rupp Arena for selected UK basketball games; a five-day stay at Kiawah Island, S.C.; a five-day fishing trip to the Florida Everglades; and a Roatan trip in Mexico.
Scheduled silent auction items include box seats to Keeneland, halters from Central Kentucky Thoroughbreds; and gift certificates to area restaurants and businesses.
