Nakatani Takes a Punch, Delivers Knockout

(from Del Mar track notes)
Jockey Corey Nakatani took at least one punch in a jockeys' room fracas after the first race Friday at Del Mar, then came back to register a knockout of his own with three victories in his final four rides.

The tussle involved fellow jockey Isaias Enriquez, but neither would expand on the incident. Nakatani was treated for a cut beneath his left eye and took off of his mounts in the second and third races while being treated in the track's first-aid station.

He returned to win the fourth, fifth and seventh races. The victories helped him pick up two wins on leading rider Tyler Baze, who scored one victory on the day. Baze has 46 wins, six more than Nakatani.
