Greely's Borrego Returns in El Cajon Friday

C. Beau Greely's Borrego, who was last seen in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) in May 15, returns to the races Friday in Del Mar's $75,000-added El Cajon Stakes for 3-year-olds. Seven will go to the post in the one-mile event.

Borrego was a serious Triple Crown contender early in the year, finishing second in Santa Anita's Sham Stakes, the Louisiana Derby (gr. II) at Fair Grounds and the Arkansas Derby (gr. II) at Oaklawn Park. He finished 1 1/2 lengths behind Smarty Jones at Oaklawn.

The El Prado colt finished 10th in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and seventh in the Preakness.
