The morning-line second choice is Samuel Bayard's Bronze Abe. The 5-year-old daughter of Two Punch owns a formidable record at Delaware Park's six-furlong distance with two wins, two seconds and a third from six starts.

In her most recent, the Maryland bred trained by Grover "Buddy" Delp ran second, beaten two lengths. in the six-furlong $100,000 Light Hearted Handicap at Delaware Park on July 18. She has won four of seven this year.

The filly who has shown the most improvement this year is Gumpster Stable's Electrical Carlita.

The 4-year-old daughter of Jules started to turn her year around when she made her meet debut at Delaware Park on May 23. In that race, a 5 1/2-furlong $20,000 claiming affair, the Florida-bred conditioned by Delaware Park's leading trainer Scott Lake won by five lengths. Since then, she has rapidly moved through her allowance conditions with three wins and two seconds. In her most recent outing Aug. 23, she posted a two-length score in a six-furlong allowance at Delaware Park, where she has four wins and a second from six starts.

"We knew she was a nice filly last year," Lake said. "We turned her out because she was bleeding real bad and the time off healed her up. She just needed something to build her confidence and when she won that (claiming) race it really made a difference with her."
