Collingrove Stud in Australia has purchased the entire interest in Irish champion Bianconi from Irish-based Coolmore Stud. The news is perfectly timed for local breeders following his crowning as the champion first season sire at the Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria awards.
"With the support of breeders we are delighted to guarantee Bianconi's future in Victoria for the future," said Adam Sangster of Collingrove. "Bianconi's first crop have been racing in great style, and his good colt Classiconi is one of the leading chances for the Caulfield Guineas next month."
A 9-year-old son of Danzig, group winner Bianconi is one of nine stakes winners out of the Pretense mare Fall Aspen, whose added-money winners also include champion Timber Country. Bianconi, who first shuttled from Ashford Stud in Kentucky to Collingrove in 2000, has sired three U.S. stakes winners.
Collingrove's champion sire Rory's Jester added another award to his imposing collection of "gongs" when he was crowned the champion broodmare sire of Victoria.
"Without Rory's Jester, Collingrove Stud wouldn't have been established," Sangster said. "And for that he will hold a special place in the history of Collingrove."
During the most recently completed season Rory's Jester was again a star. His broodmare daughters led the way through the achievements of their progeny like Not a Single Doubt, World Peace, Hinting, Bleveeka, Chut, Annie La Vie, Consular, In Top Swing, Kid George, Living Spirit, Prancelot and Rockabubble.
