Fresno Fair to Offer Spanish Simulcast Option

George Ortuzar will act as the Spanish-language announcer for the 2004 Big Fresno Fair race meet, the California Authority of Racing Fairs announced Oct. 1.

The Big Fresno Fair features 11 days of live racing Oct. 6-17. The on-track race call will be provided in English by announcer John McGary and simulcast outlets will have the option of broadcasting audio in both English and Spanish.

Ortuzar, 43, is currently the promotions manager for Hollywood Park. In addition to a background at Florida's leading racetracks, Ortuzar has 10 years experience hosting television shows for Univision, including co-host of the Spanish Candid Camera, Lente Loco.

"We are pleased to introduce George as the Spanish voice of the Fresno Fair race meet," said Christopher Korby, executive director CARF. "We look forward to serving the Spanish-language community. We want to reach out to this large and growing segment of our simulcast market, both in the U.S. and abroad."

"The Spanish-speaking community is important to the success of our Fair," said John Alkire, CEO of the Fresno Fair. "We're pleased to be working with CARF to offer this new level of service to our Spanish-speaking patrons."

CARF will provide technical support to outlets seeking to use the Spanish audio.
