Richard Mandella plans at least two more workouts at Santa Anita for Pleasantly Perfect before the defending Breeders' Cup Classic champion moves to Lone Star Park for defense of his crown on Oct. 30. "I'm thinking his next one will be maybe Monday or Tuesday," the Hall of Fame trainer said. Jerry Bailey, who galloped horses at Calder on Wednesday in his first venture to the track since breaking his left wrist on Sept. 1, rides Pleasantly Perfect in the Classic. "I talked to his agent, Ron Anderson, and he said everything is good," Mandella said. "Jerry's going to start riding at Keeneland on the 13th. Ron says he's in good shape."
Bailey was injured when he fell while installing storm windows at his Florida home in anticipation of Hurricane Frances.
