A yearling filly by Halo's Image, consigned by Nancy Bauman, agent, went to Peacock Ridge for $37,000 Wednesday to top the first of two open sessions of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's fall mixed sale. The bay filly is out of Royalty on Ice (by Sovereign Dancer), a half sister to graded stakes winner Frosty the Snowman.Nancy Bauman also consigned the session's high priced yearling colt, a son of Trippi purchased for $30,000 by G. Lack Farms. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Move On (by Gold Meridian).The session's high priced broodmare was Texas Approved, a 9-year-old daughter of With Approval in foal to Yes it's True, consigned by Cloverleaf Farms and Brent Fernung, agents. Milan Kosanovich bought her for $28,000. Out of stakes-placed Come on Texas (by Apalachee), Texas Approved is a half sister to graded stakes winners Texas Glitter and Mr. John. For the session, 129 horses brought a total of $801,400, compared with 190 horses grossing $743,700 in the corresponding session last year. The average price was $6,212, a gain of 58.7% over the $3,914 average in 2003, while the median price of $4,000 was up 48.1% from last year's $2,700 figure. The buy-back rate was 25.3%; it was 20.8% a year ago. Fifteen yearlings sold for a total of $125,900 compared with 36 bringing $135,100 in 2003. The average price was $8,393: it was $3,753 a year ago. The median price was $5,000; it was $2,700 last year.The OBS fall sale concludes Thursday with the second open session, which begins at 11 a.m. (EDT).
