Cliff Hanger Boasts Contentious Field of 11 Turf Rivals

Friday night's $200,000 Cliff Hanger Handicap (gr. IIIT) is certain to come up a tough event, especially with a full field of turf runners set to go 1 1/16 miles at Meadowlands, including several that have been knocking heads in stakes all year

One of those stakes competitors is a model of consistency, Stormy Roman, who has won or placed in five of eight starts this year, including a victory in the Sept. 5 Bob Harding Stakes at Monmouth.

"To see him around the barn you can just tell he's the model of healthiness," said trainer Tim Hills "He was a little green when he was young, but that happens with a lot of come-from-behind horses, it takes time for them to put it all together."

Stormy Roman is one of four of the contestests going into the race off an Oct. 1 allowance at Meadowlands at the same Cliff Hanger distance. Tam's Terms, a stakes winner earlier this year, beat Stormy Roman by a head, with American Freedom third and Dr. Kashnikow fifth. American Freedom also is a stakes winner this year while Dr. Kashnikow is seeking his first win since 2002.
