My Trusty Cat One to Beat in TCA Stakes

Carl F. Pollard's My Trusty Cat is the one to beat when she faces five other fillies and mares in the six-furlong, $125,000 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes (gr. III) Sunday at Keeneland.

Winner of the Honorable Miss (gr. II) at Saratoga Aug. 6, the daughter of Tale of the Cat just missed taking the Ballerina (gr. I) at the Spa as well when beaten a head by Lady Tak. The David Vance-trained miss has been breezing at Churchill Downs and will have Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day in the irons.

Richard Otto Stables, Inc.'s Summer Mis attempts to repeat in the TCA. The daughter of Summer Squall, who posted victory last year at nearly 12-1, won both the Governor's Lady Handicap at Hawthorne and the Saylorville Stakes at Prairie Meadows this year. Most recently third to fellow TCA entrant Souris in the Safely Kept at Arlington, Summer Mis is trained by Anthony Mitchell. Jockey Larry Sterling, Jr. will fly to Lexington from Chicago to ride.

Chester Porter, Randy Bloch and Phil Milner's My Boston Gal has never lost at Keeneland. The daughter of Boston Harbor broke her maiden at Keeneland in 2002 and captured the Beaumont (gr. II) there in 2003. Lightly raced this year, the Carl Nafzger trainee beat My Trusty Cat in her return to the races. Second in her next two starts, My Boston Gal was unplaced in the Ballerina in her latest trip to the post. Jockey Calvin Borel, who has been aboard her for three of her five lifetime victories, has the call.
