Orientate Colt Tops Keeneland's Sixth Session

The highest priced mare and top weanling sold at Keeneland Saturday entered the ring just a few minutes apart.

First, the 7-year-old mare Gran Senorita sold for $200,000. Then, just moments later, a colt by Orientate was hammered down for $250,000. Both were sold by Taylor Made.

Gran Senorita was sold as part of the estate of Betty Devenport. The daughter of El Gran Senor is in foal to Gilded Time carrying a full sibling to Gilded Gold, who is stakes-placed this year. She was purchased by P. F. McCarthy, agent.

The Orientate colt is out of the mare Haleys Fury and was purchased by Athens Woods.

During the sixth session of the sale, 256 horses were sold for $11,019,900, an average of $43,046 and median of $35,000. The six sessions combined have seen 1,436 sold for $247,342,900, an average of $172,244 and a median of $75,000.
