Ascot Winner Southern Africa to Attempt Prevue

(from Hollywood Park notes)
Southern Africa, victorious in two of three starts in England, is scheduled to make his United States bow in the $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (gr. III) for 2-year-olds at seven furlongs on Saturday.

Southern Africa, a Kentucky-bred son of Cape Town, has trained forwardly at Santa Anita for Mike Puhich since being purchased privately by owners Al and Sandee Kirkwood. He comes off a victory in the seven-furlong HK International Sale Auction Stakes Trophy at Ascot on July 25.

Tyler Baze has the call.

Other probable starters in the Prevue include unbeaten Del Mar Futurity (gr. II) Declan's Moon (Victor Espinoza), Seize the Day (Corey Nakatani), Megabyte (Mike Smith) and Bushwacker (Rene Douglas).

The Prevue serves as a prep for the Hollywood Futurity (gr. I) at 1 1/16 miles on Dec. 18.
