Local Favorite Formal Miss Set for My Charmer at Calder

Local filly Formal Miss, a three-time stakes winner this year at Calder Race Course, will try to make it three in a row in Saturday's My Charmer Handicap (gr. IIIT). The $100,000 guaranteed contest for fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles has attracted a full field, including last year's runner-up, Something Ventured.

Formal Miss goes into the race off scores in the first division of the Garden Saint Stakes in October and the Soft Parade Stakes in early November. She boasts 16 stakes wins or placings from 27 career starts.

Something Ventured, a stakes winner last year, has faced the starter nine times this year and is still looking for her first victory. Her best efforts have come in three stakes-placings at three different tracks.

Changing World figures to get a support at the betting windows by virtue of her victory in the Violet Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Meadowlands in October in her last start. Snowdrops, who boasts a stakes win earlier this year, ran a solid fourth in the Athenia Handicap (gr. IIIT) Oct. 31 at Belmont Park in her last start.
