Dynever Heading West in Search of Victory

(from Hollywood Park notes)
Dynever will be flown from Florida to California Monday to compete in the $100,000 Native Diver Handicap (gr. III) at Hollywood Park Dec. 11, trainer Christophe Clement said Sunday.

"We are planning to come," said Clement of the 4-year-old colt who has been in training at Payson Park since an eighth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Lone Star Park on Oct. 30.

Dynever scored his last victory when shipped to California to win the San Bernardino Handicap (gr. III) at Santa Anita on April 3. He also finished third in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita last year. Clement scratched Dynever from an overnight stakes at Calder a week ago.

Clement has done well with shippers to Hollywood Park in recent years, winning the 2000 Citation Handicap with Charge d'Affaires. He saddled Voodoo Dancer for victories in the 2001 Flawlessly Stakes and 2003 Beverly Hills Handicap.

Clement said that Corey Nakatani would ride Dynever in the 1 1/8-mile event. Dynever has won four of 15 starts and earned $1,388,714.

Other leading threats include Supah Blitz (Victor Espinoza), winner of the Charles Rose Classic at Calder in his last start; Truly A Judge, an impressive allowance winner here in his last outing; and the last three winners of the Cal Cup Classic: Cozy Guy, Tizbud and Calkins Road.
