Grade I winner Silent Sighs has been retired from racing because of an ankle injury, according to Daily Racing Form. The 3-year-old daughter of Benchmark had not started since finishing unplaced in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), after which she underwent surgery for the removal of bone chips.A homebred for Martin and Pam Wygod, Silent Sighs captured the Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) over last year's champion 2-year-old filly Halfbridled and took the Ocala Stud Oaks in her first start of the year. As a juvenile, she won the California Breeders' Champion Stakes and was second in the California Cup Juvenile Fillies Stakes.Silent Sighs, who was produced from the Bertrando mare Quiet Romance, retired with four wins from six starts and earnings of $442,700.
