Superstar filly Sweet Catomine, winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) and certain to be voted the an Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old filly of 2004, is slated to launch her 2005 campaign at Santa Anita Park on Jan. 9 in the $100,000 Santa Ysabel Stakes (gr. III).
After losing in her first start, the big, powerful daughter of Storm Cat has posted one impressive win after another for trainer Julio Canani. She broke her maiden in the Del Mar Debutante (gr. I), cruised to a four-length win in the Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. II) at Oak Tree, and finished the year with a dominating 3 ¾-length win in the Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park.
Sweet Catomine will face 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles in the Santa Ysabel.
David Flores is the likely rider for Sweet Catomine.
