Songandaprayer Colts Tops at OBSC Open Session

A yearling colt by Songandaprayer consigned by Wesfield Sales (Robert and Saronda Smith), agent, was bought by M.S.T.S. for $52,000 to top the first of two open sessions of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2005 Winter Mixed Sale. The bay colt is out of Stemming (by Pentelicus), a half-sister to stakes winners Reporter and Dinner Affair.

Sixty Queens, a 10-year-old mare by Seattle Slew consigned by Casse Sales, agent, was sold to Aron Yagoda for $42,000. The gray or roan mare, in foal to Outofthebox, is out of Queens Wild (by Spectacular Bid), a half sister to graded stakes winners Yell, Roar, Blare of Trumpets and Eastern Echo.

For the session 143 horses sold for a total of $863,800, compared with 187 horses bringing $870,700 at the corresponding session last year. The average price was $6,041, up 29.7% from $4,656 a year ago while the median price was $3,200, up 52.3% compared with $2,100 in 2004. The buyback percentage was 29.5%; it was 22.4% last year.
