Aqueduct and Gulfstream Park will offer Pick Six carryovers totaling more than $800,000 when racing resumes Thursday. The card at Aqueduct will be spiced up with a $424,209 Pick Six carryover after bettors failed to find the winning combination on Wednesday, the third straight day the pool carried over.A record Gulfstream Park Pick Six carryover of $378,558 will be also available for Thursday's 10-race program at the Hallandale Beach oval.Thursday's Pick Six at Aqueduct will begin with the fourth race, a challenging maiden special weight race for New York-bred 3-year olds. By post time, the total pool could exceed $1 million. Five of the six races drew fields of nine or more. The current figure is short of the Aqueduct record carryover of $761,021 established in January 2004. That pool resulted in two winning tickets each returning more than $1 million. Gulfstream's ballooning Pick Six is due in a large measure to the disqualification of the odds-on favorite Blazing Pursuit in the ninth race Wednesday afternoon. Although five lengths in front under the wire, Blazing Pursuit was disqualified for interference entering the stretch and placed third. The previous record of $315,431 for a Gulfstream Pick Six carryover was set last March 22.
The largest Pick Six payoff in Gulfstream history for one ticket is $309,788, recorded Jan. 17, 2001, while the largest Pick 6 pool was $546,244.
