Keeneland will catalog 262 horses for its 13th annual April sale of 2-year-olds in training, which will be held on April 19, in Lexington. This year's catalog has three fewer horses than last year's record 265 entries, which included a dispersal of horses owned by the late Jeanne Vance. There will be one session, starting at 1:30 p.m. (ET). Keeneland again will partner with Post Time Technologies to show the sale live on its website at www.keeneland.com. Consignors will have an opportunity to gallop or breeze their horses in front of prospective buyers during under tack shows starting at 10:30 a.m. (ET), on April 11 and 18. Should inclement weather adversely affect conditions on the main track, the preview shows will be conducted on Keeneland's 5/8-mile training track that has a Polytrack surface.
Sires with offspring in this year's sale include A. P. Indy, Danehill, Danzig, Dixieland Band, Dynaformer, Elusive Quality, Giant's Causeway, Gone West, Grand Slam, Kingmambo, Kris S., Pulpit, Red Ransom, Storm Cat, Successful Appeal, Unbridled's Song, and Yes It's True. Last year, a record price was paid for a 2-year-old at this sale when Aisling Cross-Dunigan spent $3.3 million for Pulpit colt on behalf of the Coolmore conglomerate from the consignment of Niall Brennan. At Keeneland's 2004 sale, 101 horses sold for $22,012,000, an average of $217,941 and a median of $135,000.
