Canterbury Park Minnesota Fund Debuts, Charity Grants Approved

Canterbury Park Holding Corporation announced the initial approval of more than $100,000 in charitable grants through its Canterbury park Minnesota Fund. Thirteen grants, ranging from $2,000 to $15,000, have been awarded to Minnesota organizations serving the equine industry and groups working to promote responsible gaming.

"While Canterbury Park has a long-standing tradition of charitable giving and community involvement, we felt that establishing a formal corporate giving program was the next step in the growth and development of this company," said Canterbury Park president and CEO Randy Sampson in a press statement.

"As a company that is based in Minnesota and owned and managed by Minnesotans, we believe that this charitable giving program is consistent with Minnesota values. Most importantly, we're able to touch people in communities throughout the state."

The Canterbury Park Minnesota Fund was established in 2004 as a vehicle to review grant proposals and manage the company's commitment to a charitable giving program. Canterbury Park has joined the Minnesota Keystone program, a premier corporate giving organization in Minnesota, and pledges to contribute 5% of pre-tax profits to charitable and community programs each year.
