Janice and Robert McNair's Stonerside Stable has purchased a controlling interest in the 3-year-old filly Sis City from the partnership of Sanford Goldfarb, New York Yankees' manager Joe Torre, Michael Dubb, and Ira Davis.
Sis City, who will remain with trainer Richard Dutrow Jr., will be pointed towards the May 6 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) at Churchill Downs.
A winner of $372,980, Sis City captured the Feb. 5 Davona Dale Stakes (gr. II) by 16 lengths --her fourth win from eight starts at two and three.
Previously, the daughter of Slew City Slew
had won the Demoiselle Stakes (gr. II), the Mongo Queen Stakes, and finished third in the Frizette Stakes (gr. I).
Bred in Kentucky by Bill Heiligbrodt's Heiligbrodt Racing Stable, Sis City is the first foal out of the Beau Genius
mare Smart Sis, a half-sister to grade 2 winner Swamp, who is also by Slew City Slew.
John Adger, racing and bloodstock manager, said the new owners liked the way Sis City looked in her stakes wins, noting that the filly has a solid pedigree free of Mr. Prospector, Raise a Native, and Northern Dancer blood.
Earlier this month, Stonerside purchased a majority interest in classic contender Sort It Out.
Stonerside Stable currently has 70 horses in training.
