Trainer Ralph Ziadie vanned the promising Port Town from his Calder Race Course base to Gulfstream Park for a Feb. 28 morning workout with an eye on a 3-year-old debut in the $150,000 Swale Stakes (gr. II) March 5."I wanted him to get a feel for the track," said Ziadie. "Hopefully he'll come out of this work good and we can take a run in the Swale."
Port Town, a bay son of Louis Quatorze, is undefeated in two starts. Gulfstream clockers timed him going six furlongs from the gate in 1:11 3/5. He clicked off a quick first three-eighths in :33 4/5 and a half-mile in :45, including a smooth run through a tight spot between the rail and another horse as they approached the far turn. Ziadie said he galloped out seven furlongs in roughly 1:25.
