HorseRacing TV will celebrate the 30th birthday of the five-time Eclipse Award winner John Henry with a one-hour special presentation of the gelding's record 12 stakes victories at Santa Anita. "Standing Tall: John Henry at 30," will air at 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT) March 9 without commentary and will feature the dozen stakes wins wire-to-wire with the original track announcers' calls. "John Henry is arguably the most popular horse to run at Santa Anita in the past 25 years, and is one of the great fan favorites of Thoroughbred racing in general," said Amy J. Zimmerman, executive producer of HRTV. "We're sure that racing fans in California and throughout the country will enjoy this look back at his races at 'The Great Race Place.'"
Included among the races will be John Henry's second Santa Anita Handicap win March 7, 1982, in which he was awarded the victory after Perrault was disqualified. The show will also take a look at the head-on views from the race, which show Perrault bearing out down the stretch, resulting in disqualification.
