Mike Keeling has been named facility manager for Churchill Downs, which will complete its $121 million renovation in early April. Keeling is a native of Louisville and a graduate of the University of Louisville who brings 25 years of experience in facilities management and related fields to his new post. He most recently served as a field service manager for BellSouth Communication Systems. Before that, Keeling held several key facility management positions at the Technology Park of Greater Louisville and its predecessor, the Naval Ordnance Station.
As facility manager, Keeling will manage all service and maintenance operations at Churchill Downs, which will consist of 1.4-million square feet upon the completion of its renovation. That includes 600,000 square feet of the facility that will be new or completely rebuilt since the renovation project got underway in late 2001. "We welcome Mike Keeling to our Churchill Downs team at a critical time in our track's storied history as our $121 million renovation is just weeks from completion," said Steve Sexton, president of Churchill Downs. "Mike brings an impressive resume of facilities management in both the public and private sectors to a new post at Churchill Downs that will be a very important position as our track moves into a new era."
