Keeneland and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association are teaming up to present College Scholarship Day on spring meet opening day, April 8, in which college students can win $1,000 toward their education, as well as additional gift certificates to local Lexington businesses. Students who enter through the East Entrance and present a valid college I.D. will receive free general admission. Full-time students can register to win a $1,000 scholarship given away via random drawing after each race. Additionally, gift certificates to local Lexington establishments, including Malone's, Cheddar's, Planet Salon and many more, will be included in the drawing. All winners must be present to claim their prizes. Each student who enters the drawing also will receive a voucher for free general admission, which can be redeemed anytime during the remainder of the spring meet except Toyota Blue Grass Stakes Day April 16.
"Since College Scholarship Day was introduced in 2002, it has grown tremendously," said KTA representative David Schneck. "The college students love Keeneland and we love giving something back to them." Following the ninth race, two scholarships will be awarded, one presented to a college student and one to a student directly affiliated with the horse industry.
