Bettors will be able to wager as little as 10 cents on superfectas during the upcoming Keeneland spring race meeting that opens April 8. The dime option will be available on all races in which a superfecta wager is offered. Previously, Keeneland's superfecta minimum was $1.
"A dime superfecta allows bettors to play many more combinations at a fraction of the cost," said Keeneland president Nick Nicholson. "We expect this wager to appeal to a wide-range of fans, especially novice bettors. This is especially important at Keeneland, where on any given race day, approximately 12% of our fans are first-time visitors."
For example, a ten-cent superfecta costs only $2.40 to box four horses while a $1 superfecta costs $24. Accordingly, the payoffs for ten-cent supers are one-tenth of the $1 payoff.
Keeneland's 16-day spring race continues through April 29.
