NTRA Promotion Mails $2.2 Million in Vouchers

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced today that vouchers worth a total $2.2 million, including a $1 million grand prize, have been mailed to more than 420,000 consumers as part of next week's NTRA Mystery Mutuel Voucher promotion. The vouchers are redeemable for cash April 9 at participating racetracks and OTBs. The voucher giveaway is the NTRA's 10th such promotion since August 2000.

Mystery Mutuel Vouchers are coded tickets worth from $2 to $1 million that are distributed in local markets via direct mail, accompanied by customized brochures. During the first nine Mystery Mutuel Voucher promotions, vouchers worth more than a total of $27 million were circulated, resulting in double-digit increases in pari-mutuel handle and attendance at most participating sites compared to the same weekend date from the prior year.

The 18 sites participating April 9 are: Aqueduct, Arlington Park, Canterbury Park, Churchill Downs, Delaware Park, Delta Downs, Ellis Park, Emerald Downs, Hawthorne Race Course, Hoosier Park, Keeneland, Monmouth Park, Mountaineer Park, Oaklawn Park, Sam Houston Race Park, Suffolk Downs, Tampa Bay Downs, and Thistledown.

The Mystery Mutuel Voucher redemption coincides with major stakes, including the Wood Memorial (gr. I) at Aqueduct, the Illinois Derby (gr. II) at Hawthorne and the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park.

"Again we hope to drive attendance and handle at all 18 of our participating NTRA-member sites, and we'd particularly love to see a lucky fan win our grand prize and go home $1 million richer."
