Graded Winner Susan's Angel Retired

Susan's Angel, a 2004 graded stakes winner, has been retired from racing because of an injury sustained at Santa Anita. The 4-year-old daughter of Cape Town has fully recovered, but not in time to begin preparing for the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I). She won or placed in 10 of 14 starts and earned $350,440 for Finney Creek Stable.

Bred in Kentucky by Captain W. Jakeman and K.C. Jakeman, Susan's Angel won last year's Turfway Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) over grade I winner Mayo On the Side, plus the Serena's Song Stakes. She also placed in three stakes, two of which were graded. Her winning dam, Copeaway, is by Copelan. Breeding plans are undecided.
