Nine Older Horses Square Off in Pimlico Special

Led by 120-pound highweight Funny Cide, nine older horses have been entered for Friday's $500,000 Pimlico Special (gr. I), the featured stakes on the Pimlico card that precedes Saturday's Preakness Stakes (gr. I).

The 2003 champion 3-year-old colt, Sackatoga Stable's Funny Cide has not started since finishing 10th in the Breeders' Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge (gr. I) last Oct. 30. The gelded son of Distorted Humor  was entered in the King's Point Handicap for New York-breds on the closing-day card at Aqueduct. But trainer Barclay Tagg decided not to run him due to the 127-pound impost and the possibility of an off track.

Among those facing the 2003 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness (gr. I) winner is Ken and Sarah Ramsey's Badge of Silver, who has won the New Orleans Handicap (gr. II) and Hal's Hope Handicap (gr. III) and finished second in the National Jockey Club Handicap (gr. III) in his three starts this year.

The National Jockey Club winner, Edgewood Farm's Pollard's Vision, is also entered in the Pimlico Special, as are the first three finishers in the Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II) – Grand Reward, Second of June, and Eddington.
