And, of course, I'll play Greeley's Galaxy to win, and just hope that work didn't put him over the edge. He is a tough, rugged colt, and he did it very easily, as if it took nothing out of him, so, hopefully, the work won't affect him. Maybe it's actually an indicator that the colt is doing awesome and is ready to run lights out.Well, that's it. It should be a fascinating race, and let the BEST horse win.
Waiting for the 11th hour, here finally are the final Preakness (gr. I) wagers. Even with Greeley's Galaxy's 1950's-style blowout Friday morning, he is going to be the key betting horse.I have decided to seek a totally different result than what we saw in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I), and only try to look for different faces. With that said, my main exacta box will be Greeley's Galaxy with High Fly, who was my value play in the Derby, and who was at a disadvantage at Churchill coming off a five-week layoff, which may have left him too sharp, and unable to adjust to the blistering pace. Look for Jerry Bailey to get him to settle better in the Preakness. It is dangerous leaving Afleet Alex, Closing Argument, and Giacomo out of the mix, and I may save with them on the back end of a three-horse trifecta box, with the aforementioned top two. I also think Nick Zito is dangerous in a situation like this, and I will play Greeley's Galaxy with all three of Zito's horses.
