Craig Fravel, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's executive vice president, will serve as western region consultant to the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, the NTRA announced June 9.Fravel will be responsible for monitoring all aspects of West Coast racing and serving as a primary point person for the NTRA on important issues. Among his first duties will be to identify candidates for a fulltime NTRA position based in California. "We want to be as responsive as we can possibly be to our Western constituents, whose issues and concerns truly impact the entire industry, " said NTRA commissioner D.G. Van Clief Jr.
"I believe it is important to strengthen the lines of communication as the NTRA enters its next phase of service to the industry," said Fravel. "An increased presence in California, and the western region in general, will be a positive change for both the NTRA and its membership." The NTRA has offices in New York City and Lexington, Ky.
