Proclamation Overcomes Bad Start to Win Jersey Stakes

Proclamation, who was well beaten earlier this year by Motivator in the Totesport Dante Stakes (Eng-II) a month ago, won the Jersey Stakes (Eng-III) for 3-year-olds at the Royal Ascot meeting June 15 for his second straight stakes win. Now first in three of four lifetime races, the son of King's Best overcame a poor start in which he was 19th early on to post a 2 1/2-length win.

Trained by Jeremy Noseda, the winner races for Abdullah Saeed Bel Hab and was ridden by J.P. Murtagh. The next two finishers, Camacho (by Danehill) and favorite Home Affairs (by Dansili), are owned by Khalid Abdullah. Time for the seven-furlong race was 1:22.82.

Proclamation, who earned $68,094 of the $117,403 purse, commanded $146,871 as a yearling at the 2003 Tattersalls October sale. King's Best stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland.
