Earlier in the week, the June weanling sale had a record gross of Aus$3,314,554, a record average price of Aus$10,903 (up 15% from last year), and a very strong clearance rate of 91%. A record price for a weanling also was set when a bay colt by Encosta de Lago from Wide Screen, was purchased by Kulani Park Thoroughbreds for Aus$155,000.

The average price was Aus$9,912. The clearance rate was 87%."Overall it has been a very strong sale," said Inglis & Son's Melbourne manager, Peter Heagney. "Race fillies and geldings were in great demand, and the buying interest was very strong right through until the end of the sale. Buyers from every state of Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Korea were in attendance."
