Louvain Tops Monday's Flawlessly Field

(from Hollywood Park report)
Irish-bred Louvain, who had been extended an invitation to Sunday's American Oaks (gr. IT), heads a lineup of twelve 3-year-old fillies set to contest Monday's $100,000 Flawlessly Stakes at Hollywood Park.

Trained by Bobby Frankel and to be ridden by Victor Espinoza, Edmond A. Gann's Louvain is the only graded stakes winner among the runners entered for the one-mile event over the Lakeside Turf Course.

After beginning her career in France, Louvain captured the one-mile Miesque (gr. IIIT) last November in her United States debut at Hollywood Park, defeating Royal Copenhagen by two lengths. She subsequently went to the sidelines before returning with a sixth-place finish in the Honeymoon Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IIT) on June 5.

Her competition in the Flawlessly includes French-bred Royal Copenhagen, fifth in the Honeymoon. Trained by Laura de Seroux for Richard Duchossois, Royal Copenhagen has been competitive in graded stakes company in the U.S., but has not won since capturing her first two races in France.
