Sis City Returns to Action in Delaware Oaks

Grade I winner Sis City will return to action Saturday in the $500,000 Delaware Oaks (gr. II) at Delaware Park, where she will face seven divisional rivals, including stakes winners Round Pond and Dance Away Capote.

The 1 1/16-mile Delaware Oaks will mark the first start for the talented daughter of Slew City Slew since she finished fourth as the favorite in the May 6 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) and will be her first start over the Delaware Park surface.

Before the Oaks, Sis City collected three straight wins, including a 16-length romp in the Feb. 5 Davona Dale Stakes (gr. II) and a 10 1/2-length win in the Ashland Stakes (gr. I) to position herself atop the 3-year-old filly standings.

Sis City will be saddled Saturday by trainer Bobby Frankel while her regular conditioner Richard Dutrow Jr. completes his suspension. Sis City, the starting co-highweight at 122 pounds, will break from gate six under jockey Edgar Prado.

Challenging Sis City for the first time in her five-start career will be the lightly-raced Round Pond, who enters the race off a game win in the June 4 Acorn (gr. I). Trained by John Servis, the daughter of Awesome Again  skipped the Kentucky Oaks after scoring a 4 1/2-length win in the April 15 Fantasy Stakes (gr. II).

Jockey Stewart Elliott will be aboard Round Pound, co-highweight at 122 pounds, as the pair breaks from gate eight.

Dance Away Capote is another filly not to overlook. The daughter of Capote comes into the Delaware Oaks with two straight outings over the Delaware surface. Most recently she finished second in the June 18 Susan's Girl Breeders' Cup Handicap after winning the May 28 Go For Wand Handicap by an impressive 5 1/2 lengths.

Jockey Rafael Bejarano gets the call aboard Dance Away Capote, who will carry 119 pounds and break from gate seven.
