Graded Stakes Winner Exactly So Dead

Exactly So, a graded stakes winner and group I producer, died at the Our Mims Retirement Haven July 26.

The 28-year-old Irish-bred daughter of Caro was one of five mares donated to the retirement home last November by Olin Gentry and John Gaines. Exactly So had been having problems with the heat and was found dead in her stall by farm owner and president, Jeanne Mirabito.

"Exactly So was a sweet, gentle mare with a spunky sort of attitude," Mirabito said.

Racing for R.G. Kluener, Exactly So won the 1981 Gallorette Handicap (gr. IIIT) and a division of the Suwannee River Handicap on grass.

Bred by Pillar Stud and initially campaigned in France, Exactly So was group-placed in France and retired with three wins from 20 starts and earnings of $137,468. Exactly So, who was produced from the Exbury mare Exactitude, produced 14 named foals, eight of which were winners, including French group I winner Exactly Sharp and graded stakes-placed Ron Stevens.

Exactly So will be buried at Our Mims.
