West Point Thoroughbreds, one of racing's most successful racing partnership companies, announced the hiring of sports marketing executive Kerry Carlson as the company's first vice president of marketing.

She will begin on Aug. 15.

Carlson joins West Point Thoroughbreds after five years at New York-based SME, one of the world's leading sports branding and design agencies, where she was vice president of brand commmunications.

The 33-year-old Carlson worked for such clients as the Boston Bruins, Detroit Pistons, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Churchill Downs, and Magna Entertainment Corporation. She helped design the brand identity program for the 1999-2001 Kentucky Derby and Magna's Sunshine Millions.

"We're delighted to be able to bring someone with Kerry's diverse sports marketing background to West Point Thoroughbreds to help centralize our marketing efforts and further grow our company's image and investor portfolio," said Terry Finley, West Point Thoroughbreds' founder and president.
