The Tattersalls July sale opened in strong fashion Tuesday in England. The 107 horses sold grossed 1,204,500 guineas (approximately $2,086,417 in U.S. funds) and averaged 11,257 guineas ($19,499). The median price was 6,000 guineas ($10,393). The average and median increased 7% and 18%, respectively, from a year ago.
The unraced Rainbow Quest mare Allumette brought the top price of 90,000 guineas ($155,827) during the morning session. Sold in foal to Medicean, she was purchased by Paul Arnold on the behalf of Patrick Churchward's Westerlands Stud. Her consignor was Cheveley Park Stud. An evening session also was conducted.
The sale runs through Thursday in England. Morning and evening sessions are scheduled for Wednesday.
