Keeneland Fall Meet Includes Special Promotions, Events

Keeneland's 2005 fall race meeting begins Friday, Oct. 7 and during the 17-day meet there will be a number of special promotions and events. Here's a glimpse of the calendar of events.

--Darley Alcibiades Vest Giveaway will take place on Friday, Oct. 7. The first 3,000 paid admissions will receive a Darley Alcibiades fleece vest.
-- Fallstars Weekend is three days of racing -- eight stakes races, three of which are grade I events.
-- Breakfast with the Works, every Saturday from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. during the race meet. On Saturday, Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29, Keeneland invites patrons to come and watch the racehorses work, with trackside commentary, and free children's' activities followed by an equine demonstration in the paddock at 8:45 a.m.
-- The 8:45 a.m. paddock demonstration every Saturday offers informative programs by those involved in the equine world. This fall's line-up includes: Saturday, Oct. 8, Chris Irwin demonstrates his non-resistance training
techniques and explains how body language communicates to horses. He will also be signing copies of his new book "Dancing With YourDark Horse" immediately following the demonstration; Oct. 15, the Central Kentucky Riding for Hope will demonstrate techniques for using horse back riding as therapy for people with disabilities; Oct. 22 presents Keeneland's longtime starter "Spec" Alexander, who will demonstrate how horses break from the starting gate; Oct. 29, the Fayette Urban County's mounted police will conduct a demonstration about how their horses are trained to help ensure public safety.
-- At the Dreamer Premiere Ticket Giveaway, fans can win one of 10 pairs of tickets being given away via random drawing to the Oct. 18 Lexington premiere of "Dreamer." The tickets will be given away at the Oct. 8 and Oct. 15 editions of Breakfast With the Works.
-- On Wednesday, Oct. 12, Laffit Pincay, one of the sport's greatest jockeys, will be at The Keeneland Gift Shop to sign copies of his new DVD "All About Winning."
-- On Thursday, Oct. 13, Keeneland salutes Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day with our "A Day to Remember" celebration, with a day-long tribute that includes a question and answer session, autograph session and special video
-- The first 5,000 paid admissions each Thursday during the meet qill receive a free print from the Keeneland Collectors Series. These Vanity Fair-inspired vintage-style jockey prints are: Oct. 13 -- Pat Day; Oct. 20 -- Jerry Bailey; Oct. 27 -- Edgar Prado
-- Working Women's Wednesday, which will include a special seating package, handicapping seminar, drink special and prizes, will be hosted on Oct. 12, 19 and 26.
-- College Scholarship Day, will take place on Friday, Oct. 14, 2005. Keeneland and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association are joining forces once again to give away ten, $1,000 scholarships via random drawing. All students must be enrolled full-time and must be present to win.
-- Founders Day takes place on Sunday, Oct. 16. This year, Keeneland salutes honorees, Jack O. Keene and the horse Myrtlewood. Patrons are encouraged to dress in 1930's-style attire.
-- The Blue Grass Airport Mural Poster Giveaway greets patrons on Sunday, Oct. 23. The first 2,500 paid admissions will receive a free poster of the mural. One poster tube will contain tickets for a trip for two to Orlando, Florida, courtesy of Blue Grass Airport and theEmbassy Suites.
-- Keeneland /NTRA Fleece Blanket Giveaway, Friday, Oct. 28, with the first 5,000 paid admissions receiving a fleece blanket.
-- For the final week of racing, Keeneland introduces Dream Week, in which Keeneland will offer its patrons the opportunity to win a dream prize -- just for attending the races. From Wednesday, Oct. 26 thru to Saturday, Oct. 29, Keeneland will be giving away a number of prizes including:
-- A trip for two to a 2006 DreamWorks premiere including travel, courtesy of Blue Grass Airport and accommodations, courtesy of The Embassy Suites;
-- A pair of season tickets for the 2005-2006 UK basketball season;
-- Five percent ownership of a 2-year-old filly racehorse, courtesy of West Point Thoroughbreds;
-- VIP package to Keeneland's Toyota Blue Grass Stakes festivities including four tickets to the Toyota Blue Grass draw, brunch, press dinner, dining room reservation for four on Toyota Blue Grass Stakes Day and a $100 betting voucher;
-- VIP package for the 2006 Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs which includes two tickets to the day's races, the post position draw, press party, "after the races" party and accommodation at the Galt House in Louisville;
-- A 26" flat-screen LCD TV courtesy of Barney Miller's. Also, during Dream Week, patrons with a ticket stub from the feature film "Dreamer" will receive free admission at the grandstand east entrance.

The drawings for each prize will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, following the last live race at Keeneland. Also on that day, there will then be the opportunity to watch live coverage of the 2006 Breeders' Cup at Belmont Park.
