Woodbine's Leading Rider Injured in Fall

Leading rider Emma Jayne Wilson bruised her right thigh on Saturday after a scary incident in the stretch of the featured Carotene Stakes on the Woodbine turf course.

Three-year-old filly Count on Three slammed into the portable rail in mid-stretch, stumbled, and unseated the apprentice.

"She's bruised up a bit," reports agent Mike Luider. "She took it like she takes everything else. She's just a great kid. She even had the commission vet call me while she was on the track to let me know everything was fine."

Wilson is off her eight mounts Sunday, but was at Woodbine undergoing therapy in the jockey's quarters. Luider speculates that the 24-year-old shouldn't miss too many racing days.

"She's day to day," offered Luider. "My guess is she'll probably be back Wednesday. We haven't ruled out (Monday)."

Wilson has won 126 races at Woodbine in 2005.

Invitational, ridden by Jono Jones, won the Carotene, a 1 1/8-mile turf event for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies.
