Capitol Racing Inks 5-Year Pact at Les Bois

Capitol Racing Association has signed a five-year agreement to manage and operate all live and simulcast horse racing at Les Bois Park in Boise, Idaho.

Capitol Racing, which developed and operated California's only Standardbred racing for the past 10 years in Sacramento, has been managing the Les Bois Park simulcasting, for the past three months. Capitol Racing also hosted a three-day live meet during Expo Idaho.

The lease signing with Capitol Racing could put to rest almost two years of non-stop turmoil with the horseracing industry in Idaho.

"We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to reconnect the horseracing community in Idaho," said Steve Bieri, president of Capitol Racing. "It will be a challenge to bring Les Bois Park back to the successful levels it had enjoyed, but I am confident we can."

Les Bois simulcasts seven days and nights per week. Plans are in the works for a full live meet this summer.

"We are going to be very busy developing an aggressive, community based marketing program for our horseracing product," Bieri continued. "Les Bois Park was once an intrigal part of central Idaho's entertainment scene and drifted away. We want to bring it back.'

Les Bois Park is planning a promotional event for Oct. 29 when the $11 Million Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships is simulcast from Belmont Park in New York.
