The logo for the 132nd Kentucky Derby (gr. I) was introduced Nov. 1 at Churchill Downs. The 2006 Derby logo, which incorporates traditional Derby colors of red and green, also prominently displays the number 132 and a signature red rose is embedded in the name of the event. The logo, which will serve as the official symbol for the 2006 renewal of the world famous "Run for the Roses," was created for the fourth consecutive year by the Churchill Downs Inc.'s Creative Services team.
The logo will adorn all officially licensed event merchandise, premium items, and tickets for the 2006 Kentucky Derby. It will be critical element in the track's Kentucky Derby branded-product licensing program, which will be managed for the first time by Licensing Partners International. The 2006 Kentucky Derby will be the first since the beginning of a five-year partnership between Churchill Downs and LPI.
The company is affiliated with the Collegiate Licensing Company, which oversees licensing programs for most NCAA colleges and universities. Along with Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby, LPI's client list includes the PGA Tour, the Indy Racing League, the World Golf Hall of Fame, and the Canadian Football League.

The introduction of the official Kentucky Derby logo for 2006 coincides with the availability of officially licensed Kentucky Derby merchandise online at The Derby Store at www.kentuckyderby.com.
