Bwana Charlie to Sequel Stallions

Bwana Charlie, a son of Indian Charlie out of the Halo mare Shahalo, will enter stud at Becky Thomas' Sequel Stallions in Orange Lake, Fla., in 2006. He will stand for $6,500 live foal.

Trained by Steve Asmussen for the Heiligbrodt Racing Stable of Bill and Corinne Heiligbrodt, Bwana Charlie won four of 19 career starts, with four seconds, and five thirds. He earned $388,850.

The 4-year-old horse won or placed in six stakes races during his career, including victories in the Amsterdam Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga and the Lafayette (gr. III) at Keeneland, both in 2004. He also ran second in the Hirsch Jacobs Stakes and Alysheba Breeders' Cup Stakes and was third in the Derby Trial (gr. III) and Carry Back Stakes (gr. III).

"Bwana Charlie is a big, powerful, yet pretty son of Indian Charlie who demonstrated heart and ability throughout his career," said Becky Thomas.

Bwana Charlie was bred in Kentucky by E & D Enterprises and was sold for $240,000 at the 2003 Fasig-Tipton Texas 2-year-olds in training sale.
