A Pick Six pool at Churchill Downs that had grown to a record of nearly $5.7 million ended its 10-day run on Saturday when 125 winning tickets were purchased at the track and at simulcast outlets across North America.
The track record Pick Six ended its long run when the heavily favored Arch Assault ($3.80) won the day's 10th race. The winning payout on the minimum $2 wager was $38,865.20. The winning numbers in the multi-race wager were 1-5-1-1-9-2. Ten of the winning Pick Six tickets were purchased at Churchill Downs.
The consolation payout to bettors that selected five of the six winners was worth $228.80. There were 3,546 consolation tickets.
Racing fans poured $4,004,157 into the track's Pick Six pool on Saturday. A record carryover of $1,694,336, which had accumulated over nine racing days, combined with Saturday's wagering to create an overall Pick Six pool of $5,698,493, a Churchill Downs record.
The Pick Six pool outdistanced the previous record pool of $2,891,518 that had grown during a three-day run in 2004 that started on Kentucky Derby Day and ended on May 6. Saturday's Pick Six betting nearly doubled the previous single day betting record of $2,035,975 established on the third and final day of the May 2004 pool.
The carryover heading into Saturday's betting had shattered the record of $855,542 set during that same pool.
