The one session devoted to yearlings in Tattersalls' December sales produced records for gross revenue (4,314,600 guineas) and average price (25,836 guineas) along with a median price (14,000 guineas) that equaled the auction's best ever Monday in Newmarket, England. There were eight six-figure transactions involving individual horses.
A 260,000-guinea Sadler's Wells colt, the first foal of Princess Royal Stakes (Eng-III) winner Love Everlasting, topped the sale when bought by Charlie Gordon-Watson. Luke Lillingston was the immediate underbidder.
"She's for an established client to be trained in Ireland," said Gordon-Watson. "The mare was very tough and while this yearling will need a bit of time, he's got a lot going for him."
The colt was bred by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook and consigned by Airlie Stud.
