Coolmore Adds Sizzle to Hot Tattersalls Session

The only Sadler's Wells catalogued topped a furious day's trading at Tattersalls' December Foal Sale in Newmarket Friday when selling for 470,000 guineas to Demi O'Byrne on behalf of the Coolmore team.

The filly – a full-sister in blood to multiple grade I winner Falbrav
(Ire) (Fairy King) – was consigned from Luca and Sara Cumani's Fittocks Stud for breeder Luciano Salice. Agent Charlie Gordon-Watson was

"She'll go back to Ireland and has been bought to race," said O'Byrne. "She was a lovely filly and we had to have her. Trade seems very strong but she was really the one I was interested in today."

While the Cumanis bid farewell to one blue-blooded foal, another will be heading their way. A Galileo colt out of Vanishing River (Southern Halo), offered by Laurel Dean from Paddy Kelly's Ballybin Stud, was purchased for 300,000gns by Paul Makin, owner of this year's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I) winner Starcraft.

Luca Cumani will eventually train the colt.

July Cup (Eng-I) winner Oasis Dream (GB) (Green Desert) was the first-season sire on everyone's shopping list. Paul Shanahan paid 240,000gns for a colt by the sire to pinhook while John Ferguson spent the same amount to acquire another of the sire's offering for Sheikh Mohammed.

The sale concludes Saturday.
