Graded Winner Snowdrops Retired

Snowdrops, an English-bred mare who raced exclusively in North America, has been retired from racing and will be returned to England to be bred. The 6-year-old daughter of Gulch will be sent to Red Ransom, according to owner Geoffrey Howard-Spink.

Snowdrops, who went out a winner in the Jan. 14 Bayou Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IIIT) at the Fair Grounds at Louisiana Downs meeting, won 10 of 23 races and earned $594,787. She was bred by West Lodge Stud, owned by Howard-Spink and his wife, Lindy, and was sent to North America to sell at auction. She failed to sell and stayed here to race.

Snowdrops won six stakes and placed in five others. Her other graded wins came in the Suwannee River (gr. IIIT) and My Charmer (gr. IIIT) Handicaps. Snowdrops, who is out of the stakes-placed Be My Guest mare Roses In The Snow, will be boarded at Templeton Stud in County Berkshire.
